The teetotum is a four-sided spinning dice, which was used from the sixteenth century to play the game of Put and Take.
Our version is of oak, and is supplied in a leather pouch.
Put and Take can be played by any number of players, who each place a coin, token or sweet into the "pot". Players then take turns to spin the teetotum, and act according to the number which shows when the teetotum stops spinning:
1 - take a coin from the pot
2 - do nothing
3 - put a coin in the pot
4 - win the whole pot
When the whole pot has been won the round is over and the players start again.
