Black and white squares hand-painted onto plyboard, baize underneath; border is of oak with mitred corners. The linseed-oil treated border is secured by screws, finished with dowel to give an authentic appearance.

This board, with 1 3/8” squares, is ideally suited to our eighteenth century chess pieces, or could be used with any chess set with pieces of maximum diameter of c. 1”.

Historic Period or Date:

• c.13th to c.14th century onwards
