Made from quarter-sawn oak, with squares differentiated by hatching; border is of oak with un-mitred corners. The border is secured by rosehead nails; and the board has been treated with linseed oil. This board, with 1.75” squares, is ideally suited to our fifteenth century chess set, or could be used with any chess set with pieces of maximum diameter of c. 1.5”.
